Online Safety

DO YOU KNOW WHO IS TALKING TO YOUR CHILD

ON THE INTERNET TONIGHT?

Children love using the Internet, they use it in ways many of us find unimaginable for example:

  • Blogging
  • “Facebooking” their friends
  • Playing games
  • Downloading music and films
  • Chatting

However, like all technologies using the Internet can present some risks, not only to children and young people, but also to us adults.

The answer to keeping children and young people safe on the Internet is by educating them how to use it properly and who to report issues to which make them feel threatened or uncomfortable.  We wouldn’t let a child cross the road alone without teaching them how to do it safely so why let them loose on the Internet without explaining some of the dangers?

Kells Infant School takes Internet safety very seriously and implements many safety features to keep children safe when using the Internet in school, however it is your responsibility to keep your children safe while they are on the Internet at home or, increasingly, via mobile technologies.

Please see below some useful links to help and advice in keeping your children safe while using the Internet.
